🌪️⚡Extreme wind events like tornadoes, derechos, and microbursts threaten power grids, infrastructure, and renewable energy production. Current forecasting models struggle with accuracy, requiring high computational resources that limit real-time decision-making. This WISER-funded project is developing deepExWind, an innovative deep learning-based forecasting model that will provide fast, precise predictions of damaging wind events—running on a standard workstation instead of expensive supercomputers.

Using Wavelet Neural Operators and cutting-edge AI techniques, deepExWind will enhance grid resilience, disaster preparedness, and extreme weather response strategies. By making advanced forecasting tools more accessible and efficient, this research is set to transform how utilities and emergency planners anticipate and mitigate wind-related disruptions. Stay connected as we revolutionize wind forecasting! 🌪️🔋
