🌬️⚡As the Northeastern U.S. transitions to 100% renewable energy, understanding how climate change will impact wind resources is crucial for energy reliability and financial planning. Traditional climate models struggle to capture localized wind behavior, creating uncertainty for wind farm siting, design, and long-term viability. This WISER-funded project is leveraging advanced downscaling techniques to refine global climate model outputs, providing high-resolution projections of wind speed variability and extreme events—including the risk of wind droughts that could disrupt energy production.

By delivering detailed probabilistic data on wind resource availability from 2024 to 2070, this research will help utilities, developers, and policymakers optimize wind farm investments, minimize operational risks, and strengthen renewable energy resilience. Stay tuned as we unlock the future of wind power in a warming world! 🌎🔋
