âšĄđŸ™ī¸ As extreme heat and cold events intensify, cities are facing unprecedented energy demand spikes that strain local grids. Traditional forecasting methods lack the granularity and adaptability needed to manage these fluctuations effectively. This WISER-funded project is developing the Peak Energy Load Management System (PELMS)—a cutting-edge tool that integrates high-resolution urban weather modeling and building energy simulations to provide precise, real-time forecasts at the neighborhood and substation level.

By capturing the impact of urban heat islands, rooftop solar capacity, and diverse building types, PELMS empowers utilities and city planners to anticipate demand surges, prevent blackouts, and optimize energy distribution strategies. With actionable insights, dynamic forecasting, and smart energy interventions, PELMS is paving the way for a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable urban energy future. Stay tuned as we transform peak load management! 🔋🌎
