Weather Innovation, Smart Energy, and Resilience (WISER) is an NSF Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC).

⚡🔌 As extreme weather events continue to threaten power grid reliability, predicting outages is no longer enough—we must also understand their electrical impact. This WISER-funded project is integrating outage prediction models with power system simulations to improve emergency response and grid stability.

By incorporating grid-forming inverters and battery energy storage systems, this research aims to mitigate disturbances, minimize downtime, and enhance resilience during severe weather events. Utilizing advanced co-simulation techniques, the project will provide actionable insights for utilities to strengthen contingency planning and outage management.

Stay tuned as we develop next-generation solutions for a more reliable and adaptive power grid! ⚡🌎
